Christoph Barszczewski came to IT security and to IKARUS via malware analysis. In 1993, he established an IKARUS branch office with focus on malware analysis in Warsaw, Poland. After a few years, local data processing became increasingly important. All development and analysis work was located at the company’s headquarters in Vienna – as was Christoph Barszczewski, who followed IKARUS to Austria.

As a pioneer in the anti-virus industry, IKARUS soon made a name for itself internationally. The IKARUS Malware Scan Engine, the heart of the antivirus technology, is convinced with excellent detection rates and is still a technological unique selling point today. Christoph Barszczewski built up a partner network. Today he is also specialized in securing municipal facilities and projects in the field of industrial security. The interest in the “canned goods”, the malicious code and the tricks of the cybercriminals, remained.

“Knowledge and awareness are just as important as the right technical protection measures,” says Christoph Barszczewski: “The more knowledge I can share with our partners, the more effectively they can support their customers. It is one of my great passions to look behind the tricks of scammers!”
