End of Life for Android App
IKARUS mobile.security

Our Android app IKARUS mobile.security will reach its end of life on December 31, 2025. It is no longer available on the Google Play Store, and no new activation codes will be issued. Activation codes already purchased can still be redeemed until the end of 2025 or returned upon request.

What this means for existing users

Existing users can migrate to our license-free version of IKARUS mobile.security free of charge. This version, as well as the MDM-version for business customers, will continue to receive updates until the end of 2025. Bug fixes and minor adjustments will be addressed until November 15, 2025. In the event of major changes by Google or Android, we will try to restore affected functionality. IKARUS customer support will remain available until December 31, 2025.

As of January 1, 2026, there will be no further app updates or customer support. Virus database updates are planned to continue beyond that date—subject to changes by Google/Android—to ensure continued antivirus protection.

Private customers and purchases via Google Play

Depending on the purchase date, you may be eligible to request a (partial) refund for the lifetime license of IKARUS mobile.security. One-year subscriptions are strictly non-refundable.

You can request a (partial) refund exclusively by email to  sales@ikarus.at, providing proof of purchase (Google Play Store invoice). Unfortunately, we cannot process requests made by phone or without valid proof of purchase.

Reseller and purchases via IKARUS webshop

  • Unused activation codes and codes redeemed between January 1, 2025 and May 1, 2025, are eligible for a full refund until May 1, 2026.
  • Activation codes redeemed before January 1, 2025 may be eligible for a partial refund, depending on the remaining validity period.
  • Activation codes redeemed before December 31, 2020, as well as codes that have already expired, are no longer eligible for a refund.
  • If your use case is not covered here, please contact your IKARUS account manager directly.

Refunds can only be requested by submitting the fully completed refund form via email to sales@ikarus.at.

Why is the development of IKARUS mobile.security being discontinued?

The Android operating system has continuously evolved over the past years. Many security mechanisms have been integrated directly into the system, rendering app-based features either redundant or technically unfeasible. As a result, the demand for additional security features has significantly declined.

At the same time, the IKARUS product portfolio has evolved and expanded into other areas. Therefore, we are focusing our resources on our core products and future-oriented innovations.

Are other products from the IKARUS product portfolio affected?

Only IKARUS mobile.security is affected by the end of support. All other IKARUS solutions remain available and continue to be actively developed and supported with great commitment.
