Prerequisites:
- Access to the IKARUS Portal
- Microsoft 365 administrator access
- IKARUS mail.security IP address (for initial setup)
Run O365 Sync
IKARUS Portal > mail.security > 0365 > O365 Synchronization
A wizard will guide you step by step through the following process:
- Select the Microsoft account
- Select the domain(s)
- Select mailboxes
- Add the target server
- Create routes
For the initial setup, you must then configure the inbound connector and outbound connector in Microsoft 365 and adjust the DNS records accordingly.
Configure Inbound Connector
Exchange Admin Center > E-Mail flow > Connectors > Add connector
Set up an inbound connector so that Microsoft 365 accepts incoming emails from IKARUS mail.security.
- Connection type: From partner organization
- Choose a name and optional description
- Configure authentication via the IKARUS mail.security IP address
- Configure security restrictions
- Verify the connector
Configure Outbound Connector
Exchange Admin Center > E-Mail flow > Connectors > Add connector
- Connection type: from Office 365, with partner organization
- Choose a name and optional description
- Usage of the connector: Only when a transport rule exists
- Routing: through a smart host (enter the IKARUS mail.security IP address)

Create a Transport Rule in Microsoft 365
Exchange Admin Center > E-Mail flow > Rules > Add rule
To activate the outbound connector, a transport rule must be created in Microsoft 365.
- Create a new rule
- Define rule conditions
- Choose a name
- Apply this rule, if the recipient is external/internal
- Recipient location is outside the organization
- Redirect message to inbound connector
- Configure rule settings
- Review and finish
Adjust DNS Records
To route emails via IKARUS mail.security to Microsoft 365, the DNS records of the relevant domain(s) must be updated.
- Set the MX record to mx.mymailwall.com
- Add mymailwall.com to the SPF record
